About this blog
It was created by a group of trainees from the Winter Stage 2007 - 2008, hoping that it will become a practical tool with a complete package of informations for the future trainees. It explains what means to be a trainee at the Commission and answers as well to common questions like: 'How is to work as trainee at the Commission?', 'Which are the perspectives after such experience?','How is it to live in Brussels?', 'Where and how to search for accommodation?', 'Which are the best places to spend the free time?', etc

Hi,
I'm an American graduate student in law hoping to apply to the EC for the March 2010 intake. Do you know whether non-member applicants have a real chance at success? Any tips or suggestions?
Very useful blog!
Hello,
I'm from Colombia and I ask the same question by the american graduate. I'm a BA in Political Science, and I'm really interested in the traineeship opportunity, but the cost of sending the papers is far too high if there is not a plausible chance for me to be able to get a spot.
Anyone has known of members of third world countries who get in?
Hi there,
During my stage at the EC I have worked with people from non-EU member states countries (Camerun, Turkey and the US). Especially in the DGs Aidco/Echo there is an interest for applicants from third world countris. On a whole I can fully recommend to apply for a trainneship at the EC. Lots of success! Barbara
Thanks for you response Barbara. It encourages me to apply, and then hope for the best!
